A New Era For the Gospel

A miracle happened in our generation, and even now, some have overlooked it. This miracle was entirely unprecedented and marked a paradigm shift in the way mankind interacts. If you’re reading this, you’ve already experienced it. The Internet fundamentally changed how people communicate with one another, and yet, in the last two decades, it has become so commonplace that the significance of this monumental development may remain unappreciated by many people.

For centuries, mass communication was restricted by finances, resources, and status. Only a minority of the people were capable of communicating their message to the masses, while everyone else listened. However, with the advent of the Internet, everyone suddenly had the opportunity to have a platform from which to speak their message to the entire world. Then social media emerged and made it even easier for people to connect and communicate with one another.

So what does this mean for the Christian?

As ambassadors to the kingdom of God, Christians are to carry the truth of His gospel, His message of hope, redemption, and restoration to the masses, and now, we, unlike any generation before us, have the ability to communicate with an unprecedented number of people quickly and easily.

Using the Internet and social media, Christians can deliver the good news of Christ, glorify God, and demonstrate his grace to multitudes of people, particularly to those close to us. We do a great disservice to the kingdom of God, if, in this day and age where 20% of the world’s population is on Facebook daily, we allow fear, apathy, or a lack of understanding prevent us from seizing this amazing opportunity we have before us, “For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Make no mistake, you don’t have to know how to “do it right”, but as in all things, do it in faith and as 1 Corinthians says, “to the glory of God.”
