A Normal Church Service at Faith

This past Sunday night, we enjoyed a special service where the 7-12 grade students directed our service, but I want to encourage our church family to understand that while it was a unique service in some regards it was simply a normal service at Faith Baptist. How can I say that a One Cause Coup/Teen Takeover service would be “business as usual” at Faith?

The Gifts Were in Use & Fully Functioning—Every week at Faith Baptist Church we strive to enable individual members gifting and provide ample opportunity for service in Christ’s church, whether student or adult (I Cor. 12:1). While having students lead our entire service on Sunday night, the spiritual reality remained the same—believers using their gifts in the local assembly of the body of Christ.

Believers Were Edified—Whether it’s the choir singing a truth-filled song, someone leading the congregation in praise, ushers or greeters serving the body practically, or a man stepping into the pulpit and proclaiming the truth of God’s Word the ultimate purpose is to edify believers for the glory of God (I Cor. 14:12). Even with young adults fulfilling each role of our service this past Sunday evening, the spirit remained the same—believers in the body of Christ were edified and built up in their faith.

Church family, while last Sunday night was a special time let’s understand the foundational spiritual reality regarding each time we assemble. Each believer regardless of age, gender, or stage of life has been gifted to serve, gifted to grow, gifted to glorify God in the body of Christ (I Cor. 12:18-20). How are you fulfilling your God-given role as a member of Faith Baptist Church with your spiritual gifting?
